Here are a few resources that have been researched at Erie 1 BOCES/WNYRIC in regards to the question of the Impact of Technology. We have learned from these and feel that they are good resources. They have informed our Erie 1 BOCES work which you will see towards the bottom of this page:

1) ATTACHMENT: The Impact of Technology...: This is an article that discusses administration of surveys, etc. This is especially useful as a guideline for how they suggest administering the test/questionnaires:

The questionnaires:
The 10-to-15-minute questionnaires consisted of four parts focusing on each population’s general perceptions and opinions about instructional technology, the frequency of use, projected use, and demographics. While faculty at large were polled, only undergraduate students taking courses in technology based classrooms whose faculty agreed to participate in the study received the questionnaire.

2) Surveys for use, disposition & accessibility. These are really good resources for determining the relationship between demographics, usage, and accessibility. The TEACHER SURVEY, however includes disposition about integration and instruction. The attachments are surveys for Elementary Student,MS HS Student, Principal and Teacher Survey.
Here are the files noted above:

Here is the website which describes the study and provides impact reports based on the action research: http://www.bc.edu/research/intasc/researchprojects/USEIT/useit.shtml

Here is another resource that we have found very helpful in our planning and development of our work in the EETT Grants.

Currently in the Erie 1 BOCES EETT grant, we have not surveyed any students since the bulk of our work has been with administrators. We have, however been working with the Red Group, a consultant group in the Syracuse area, to develop surveys and other assessments to determine the impact of professional development. One of our staff developers is in the process of developing a pre-assessment for 6th grade students in a local district. It is performance-based and assesses the 21st century & technology skills the students will use during the scope of the project.

Here are papers created by Erie 1 BOCES/WNYRIC describing our pilot work with districts: (both process and results from student and teacher perspective). We did administer surveys to students and staff pre and post the addition of technology to project based lessons.
